Have you ever watched some Chinese Kung Fu movies? Or, at least, you must have heard of "Shaolin Temple", "Kids from Shaolin", "North and South Shaolin", "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", "Hero", and recent "Fearless". There are many Kung Fu movies by some super Chinese kung fu-movie stars, such as Jet Li, Jackie Chan and others.
Chinese Wu Shu (also called Kung Fu or Martial Arts) is a big family and its history is more than thousands of years. There are many different styles of Chinese martial arts from internal to external, traditional to modern, shao lin to wu dang, northern to southern sytles, for example, Tai Ji, Ba Ji, Tai Ji, Ba Gua, Xing Yi, Chang Quan (Long Fist), Tong Bei, Pi Gua, just name some of these. Many other types of martial arts in other countries, for example, Tae Kown Do and Karate, also came from Chinese styles about dozens or hundreds year ago. Chinese Wu Shu or Kung Fu is the root.
Chinese Wu Shu is so graceful, applicable, attractive and is really an excellent sports. To do it well, you need balance, speed, force, smoothness, softness and hardness. Frequent Chinese Wu Shu practice can definitely help you improve these capabilities and can also imporve your health, fitness, focus, discipline, self-confidence and defense. Especially, Tai Ji and Qi Gong are the best choice for some patients with stomache, high blood pressure, etc. There were many cases showed that these patients partially or totally recovered after they practiced Tai Ji and Qi Gong for a while.
I am one of the only four or five 6th Degree Senior Coaches certified by Chinese Wu Shu Association and is the only one now in St. Lous and midwest area. I have been practicing and teaching many different styles, internal, external, traditional, modern, northern and southern. I and my students also participated and competed in many national and international competitions and got many medals and titles.
